The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has shut down Amsterdam Pub at Laboma following an intelligence-led operation targeting suspected narcotics-related activities at the entertainment facility.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 NACOC said three suspects have been arrested and are assisting with investigations as it works to establish the full extent of activities allegedly taking place at the facility.
NACOC said the operation was conducted overnight on Friday, September 4, 2026 after intelligence gathered suggested that the facility was being used in connection with narcotics-related activities.
However, NACOC said the prime suspect linked to the alleged narcotics activities remains at large.
Additional intelligence officers have subsequently been deployed to locate and apprehend the individual as investigations continue.
The Commission said the self-styled coffee shop has been closed to facilitate investigations and prevent the premises from being used to facilitate further narcotics-related activities while the case is pursued.
The operation forms part of NACOC’s broader intelligence-driven strategy to identify, disrupt and dismantle locations and networks suspected of facilitating the distribution, sale and use of illicit narcotic substances.
NACOC has meanwhile warned owners, managers and operators of pubs, nightclubs, lounges and other entertainment establishments against allowing their premises to become conduits for narcotics-related activities.
The Commission said it would continue to pursue businesses and individuals suspected of engaging in or facilitating the sale, distribution and use of illicit narcotic substances.
