The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has been honoured with the prestigious Africa Visionary Leadership Award at the 7th Africa Brain Bank Annual Summit and Awards in Accra.
The award, which recognises individuals making significant contributions to Africa’s development, was presented to Mrs. Houadjeto during the summit held from September 3 to 8, 2026, at the Marriott Hotel in Accra.
She was recognised for her visionary leadership, exemplary public service and transformative contributions to Ghana’s economic, industrial, tourism and community development.
The summit brought together a diverse group of businesses, investors, professionals and policymakers from sectors including healthcare, tourism, pharmaceuticals, construction, finance, technology, logistics, real estate and infrastructure.
A major focus of the week-long event was to engage members of the African Diaspora and encourage them to contribute their expertise, investments, professional networks and philanthropic support to Africa’s development while reconnecting with the continent’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
Receiving the honour, Mrs. Houadjeto expressed appreciation to the organisers but was quick to shift the spotlight to the people behind the Ghana Tourism Authority’s work.
She dedicated the recognition to the Management and staff of the GTA, acknowledging their commitment and hard work in advancing the country’s tourism sector.
“I am appreciative of the honour done me by the organisers, but this award is dedicated to the supportive, dedicated and hardworking Management and staff of the Ghana Tourism Authority,” she said.
Her remarks underscored the collective effort behind the Authority’s programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting Ghana as a leading tourism destination.

Mrs. Houadjeto’s recognition at the summit therefore places her among professionals being acknowledged for their efforts to drive meaningful change and development across the continent.
