The contractor working on the Takoradi-Agona Junction, Justmoh has assured that work on the 23-kilometre road will be completed and handed over by the end of November 2026.
The contractor, Dr Justice Amoh, said the project had reached an advanced stage, with most of the major works nearing completion.
“Now, progress as I have mentioned to you, we are almost done. We can assure you that come ending November, we are going to hand over,” he told the Roads Minister during his inspection of works on the project on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.
According to Dr Amoh, all materials required for the furnishing of the road have been cleared, paving the way for the completion of the remaining works.
He said the outstanding activities include road protection works, guardrails and road line markings.
“All the materials from the furnishing have been cleared. We are yet to start with the road protection, the guard raise and the road line markings,” he added.
Axle load a major concern
Dr Amoh, however, identified excessive axle loads as a major challenge that could undermine the durability of the newly constructed road.
He appealed to the Minister to take steps to enforce axle-load regulations to protect the road infrastructure.
“Our major challenge is the axle load and once you are here, we plead with you to take a critical look at it and help us resolve it because no matter what the road design is, if the axle load is not controlled, it will undermine the road,” he said.
He stressed that controlling overloaded vehicles would be essential to ensuring that the road remains in good condition after completion.
