Ghana has signed an air services agreement with Trinidad and Tobago to boost direct air connectivity and deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, during a bilateral meeting between President John Dramani Mahama and Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, in New York, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
President Mahama announced the signing in a Facebook post, noting that the deal will strengthen ties and open new opportunities for collaboration.
“This agreement strengthens air connectivity and creates new opportunities for cooperation between our countries,” he said.
Beyond aviation, the two leaders also discussed trade and investment and provided updates on the reparations agenda -an issue that continues to unite African and Caribbean nations in their push for historical justice and closer partnership.
The air services agreement is expected to pave the way for direct flights, increased tourism, and expanded commercial links between West Africa and the Caribbean.
President Mahama is in New York for a series of diplomatic engagements on the margins of the 80th UN General Assembly.
