The Ghana Police Service has rescheduled the full implementation of its automated traffic law enforcement programme, TRAFFITECH-GH, to November 1, 2026.
The programme, which was initially set to take off on October 1, 2026, is being implemented through the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD).
According to a press release signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Richmond Mensah, Staff Officer of the Public Affairs Directorate, the rescheduling is to allow for more extensive public awareness and education.
“The education will focus on the operations of the system, the specific traffic offences it will detect, and the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to offending motorists,” the press release indicated.
The Police Service said “TRAFFITECH-GH forms part of efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.”
It has urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to take advantage of the additional one-month window to familiarise themselves with the programme ahead of its rollout.
The Service also expressed gratitude to the media for their support throughout the introduction of the project and reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to ensure successful implementation for improved road safety.
