Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Debrah, avers that government sees the Volta Region as an important centre for production, tourism and trade, a vision he says must be visible in work on the ground.

He says development works only when government, traditional authorities, businesses, communities and citizens each play their part for the success of the nation.

Speaking at the 2026 Asogli Yam Festival, also known as Asogli Teza, on Saturday, October 3, 2026, the Chief of Staff, who represented President John Dramani Mahama as Guest of Honour, outlined what the government is doing under its Big Push programme to propel the Region.

He listed the projects as the reconstruction of the Nginawasi Road, Titirinu Road, together with the whole Guinness Depot to whole airport second gate section, the rehabilitation of the whole Potoi Road, and the reconstruction of the Hawe Hohoe Road.

Explaining the importance of the projects, he said they are more than roads. “These are roads to farms, schools, hospitals, markets, and opportunities for all of us,” he said.

Dr. Debrah said beyond roads, other pipeline projects include upgrading internal access to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), the Ho Technical University, and the Mawuli Senior High School, with an overpass at Alae.

According to him, the theme for this year’s celebration, speaks directly to the spirit of Teza.

“This year’s theme, United in Purpose, Investing in People and Infrastructure for Sustainable National Development, speaks directly to the spirit of Teza. A young mold yields because of soil, the seed, the rain, and labour that come together in common purpose,” he stated.

He assured the Regional Minister and the people of Volta of his support for credible projects.

“I have also believed that public service has one purpose, to improve lives. As Chief of Staff, I help the President turn policy into results by coordinating institutions, tracking decisions, removing obstacles. I assure the Regional Minister and the people of Volta that my doors will remain open,” he said.

He said credible projects that improve lives in the Volta Region will find in him a willing partner. “Credible projects that improve lives here will find in me a willing partner and an advocate,” he added.

This year’s celebration also marked the 23rd Anniversary of the ascension of the Togbe Afede XIV, as Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State.
