Akoma FM’s commitment to making a difference in the lives of its listeners has yielded positive results, following a public appeal that raised more than GH¢30,000 and other essential items for Diana, a heavily pregnant woman who lost all her belongings in a fire outbreak at Atasemanso.
The story was first highlighted on Tuesday’s edition of GhanAkoma, hosted by Sir John, after fire gutted some shops at Atasemanso, leaving Diana, who is approaching her ninth month of pregnancy, with the loss of her belongings.
Her heartbreaking situation was subsequently featured on Akoma Mu Nsem, hosted by Maakos, where her story touched the hearts of listeners and prompted an appeal for public support.
The appeal received an encouraging response, with members of the public contributing more than GH¢30,000, alongside other items, to help Diana recover from the devastating incident and prepare for the arrival of her baby.
On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the Akoma Mu Nsem team officially presented the donations to Diana.
Overwhelmed with emotion, Diana shed tears of joy as she received the support.
She expressed her profound gratitude to the management of Akoma FM, the programme team and the station’s listeners for their generosity and kindness during what has been a difficult period in her life.
She also offered prayers for the station and everyone who contributed towards the donation, asking for blessings upon them for coming to her aid when she needed help the most.
The gesture highlights the power of radio beyond informing and entertaining the public, demonstrating how broadcasting can mobilise communities and bring relief to people facing difficult circumstances.
For Diana, the support represents not only financial assistance and essential items but also a reminder that she is not alone as she approaches childbirth.
The intervention by Akoma Mu Nsem once again underscores the programme’s commitment to using its platform to amplify the concerns of vulnerable people and rally public support for those in need.
