As anticipation builds for this Saturday’s Rapperholic concert, Ghanaian rap icon Sarkodie has addressed one of the biggest talking points from his visit to Kumasi — why he chose not to spray cash during his appearance at Adum.

The award-winning rapper made the clarification during an interview with Tony Best on Akoma 87.9 FM, where he is making the rounds as part of his media tour ahead of Rapperholic 2026.

Sarkodie said he noticed videos circulating on social media questioning why he did not spray money as fans gathered to welcome him in Adum.

“I saw videos of people saying I didn’t spray cash. Apparently, it’s something we’re not allowed to do by law, and we’re not supposed to treat the currency like that,” he stated.

His explanation quickly shifted the conversation from expectation to awareness, as many fans had assumed the gesture would be part of his interaction with the crowd.

The Tema-born rapper is spending the week in Kumasi promoting Rapperholic 2026, which culminates in the main concert on Saturday, October 24.

The promotional tour includes radio interviews, community engagements and creative industry activities designed to connect with fans ahead of the flagship event.

This year’s Rapperholic continues Sarkodie’s decision to make Kumasi a major stop for one of Ghana’s biggest annual music events, following last year’s successful edition that drew thousands of patrons.

With excitement growing ahead of Saturday’s show, Sarkodie’s comments have also sparked fresh discussion about how Ghana’s currency should be treated at public events, even as fans continue to celebrate his return to the Garden City.
