The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said it will not interfere with investigations into sexual misconduct allegations against Zakaria Abdulai, headmaster of Obuasi Senior High Technical School and a former Juaben constituency secretary of the party.

NDC General Secretary Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey said the party would not shield Abdulai if he is found guilty, insisting that anyone found culpable must face the full consequences of the law.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, October 22, 2026, Kwetey called on law enforcement agencies to conduct an independent investigation and establish the truth.

“We do not endorse any such conduct. And we want the law enforcement to do an independent job,” he said.

He assured the public that neither the party nor its government would interfere in the process or protect anyone found to have broken the law.

“We assure the world that this party will not in any way interfere. We want the truth to be brought out. As a party and its government, we do not cover anybody,” he stated.

Fiifi Kwetey added that the party would accept the outcome of the investigation, whether it cleared or implicated Abdulai.

“If he’s found guilty, he’ll pay the highest price. If he’s not guilty, we’ll be happy for him. So we want the law enforcement to do its own job,” he said.

His comments follow an exposé by investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni on sexual assault allegations involving Abdulai.

The allegations are currently being investigated with the dockets of the case forwarded to the Attorney-General.

The Headmaster in question has been interdicted and has also resigned from his position and Juaben NDC constituency Secretary.
