The Member of Parliament for Ellembelle and Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, says unity after the NDC’s constituency elections is critical to strengthening the party and consolidating the its role in Ghana’s democracy.

He made the comments on Saturday, October 24, 2026, when he observed the Ellembelle constituency executive elections.

The elections was held across all 276 constituencies on Saturday, October 24 and Sunday, October 25, to elect constituency executives for the party, under the supervision of the Electoral Commission.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines after the polls, Armah-Kofi Buah expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and enthusiastic conduct of the exercise.

“This exercise will further go to strengthen our credentials as a party that is very peaceful, very united, very focused,” he said.

According to him, the exercise will consolidate the NDC as the number one party enhancing Ghana’s democracy, adding that the spirit of togetherness was obvious at the polls, looking at how members understood the election as a family exercise to select leaders.

“We are exercising our franchise to select leaders in the family and after that we are going to be united going forward and that is what is guiding us in this election,” he stated.

He said the process “going to make NDC stronger, it’s going to consolidate our party as a party that is really leading Ghana’s democracy,” noting that the enthusiasm recorded nationwide is unusual for a party in government. He attributed the success of the exercise to the NDC’s continued connection with the grassroots.

“It is not often that the party in government will have such enthusiasm and energy but we are seeing it because we are mindful of the people who elected us and we are in touch with the grassroots,” he added.

About 15,000 aspirants contested positions including Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Secretary, Organiser, Treasurer, Communications Officer, Women’s Organiser and Youth Organiser across the country.

The Party has scheduled its regional executive elections for November 14 and 15, with the national congress for December 19 to elect national executives.
