Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has raised concerns over alleged state-backed land grabbing at Accra suburbs of Cantonments and Labone, calling for urgent intervention.

Speaking to Alfred Ocansey on TV3’s KeyPoint Saturday, November 23, 2024, Ablakwa decried the demolition of property belonging to one Lomotey family at Labone by Dream Citrix, a company he claims is linked to high-profile political figures.

“The Lands Commission gave Dream Citrix a lease, claiming it was a mistake. Despite this lease being revoked, the company continues to demolish properties with police protection. This impunity must stop,” Ablakwa declared.

He emphasized that while the Ghana International School (GIS) has successfully fenced its land, other families, such as the Lomoteys, continue to face harassment from alleged land grabbers.

Ablakwa further stated: “The Akufo-Addo administration has failed to protect private property rights. What we’re witnessing is a clear case of state capture. This must be addressed before it erodes public confidence in our institutions.”

He called for accountability and pledged to use all available parliamentary tools to bring the perpetrators to justice, describing the situation as a test for Ghana’s rule of law.
