An Accra High Court has struck out the application seeking to revoke the leave granted former NAFCO CEO, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba, to travel to the UK after the Deputy A-G withdrew the motion.

Dr Justice Srem-Sai, the Deputy Attorney-General (A-G) leading the prosecution attempted to move the motion on Thursday, July 16, 2026, but was stopped in his tracks after the judge indicated that the application had become moot since the leave granted the accused had elapsed.

The application followed Hanan Abdul-Wahab’s arrest on July 4, 2026, as he attempted to travel after obtaining permission from the court to leave the country for medical treatment.

The prosecution alleged that he had attempted to withdraw money from a frozen bank account and intended to abscond.

Justice Achibonga noted that the permit granted was from July 4-12 after which the accused was to return the passport to the registry on July 14.

He affirmed that though the application to revoke the order was filed before it elapsed, the date for hearing had made the motion moot.

Dr Justice Srem-Sai then prayed for leave to withdraw the motion afterwhich the court struck it out as withdrawn.

Godfred Yeboah Dame lead Counsel for the ex-NAFCO CEO, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba then sought orders from the court to have Hanan’s passport and £6,700 seized by the State to be returned to his client but the judge directed them to pursue the matter formally.

Dame accused the Attorney-General of fixing the date for hearing of the application to July 16 in order to prevent his client from travelling to seek medical attention.

But the judge noted that although parties can suggest dates for hearing, fixing of dates is ultimately done by the Court registry.

Together with his wife, Faiza Seidu Wuni, Hanan Abdul-Wahab Aludiba has been charged with stealing, causing financial loss to the state and money laundering.
