Despite Kwame Adu Meider’s early strike for Nsoatreman FC in their Matchday 15 Ghana Premier League game, home side Accra Lions emerged strongly from the second half to secure a 2-1 victory.

After the blast of referee Rustum Senorgbe’s whistle for the late kick-off on Monday, December 18, the visitors dispossessed their opponents in their own backyard to open the score barely 10 seconds into the game at the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

The aggression of Nsoatreman FC was justified as 3 points from the game would have seen them go joint-top with Aduana Stars.

However, Ibrahim Tanko’s side came from the break a more motivated side as Mohammed Yahaya led the comeback fight.

He headed home the equaliser with less than 20 minutes to the end of the game.

A few minutes later, his individual effort, helping get him the Man of the Match honour after the game, saw him secure the winner for Accra Lions.

The result sees the home side move up the log to 9th position with 19 points.

Nsoatreman FC could only reel over the loss as the dream to go top was dashed.

After the game, head coach Maxwell Konadu said his charges should have remained focused after getting that early goal.

They, however, remain in the Top 5 with 24 points.

Accra Lions will next face Dreams FC while Nsoatreman host the league leaders in their next encounter in the League.
