Almost thirteen years after the passing of former President John Evans Atta Mills, his legacy continues to resonate in Ghanaian society. As the nation reflects on his contributions, various commemorative events are being organized to honor his memory and celebrate the principles he stood for.
The John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage has revealed plans for several events to mark the 13th anniversary of the late former President’s death.
Alex Segbefia, Chairman of the Memorial Heritage, emphasized the organization’s commitment to upholding Prof. Mills’ values through strategic programs and commemorative events.

The 13th-anniversary commemoration will kick off on July 22, 2025, with a public lecture, highlighting Prof. Mills’ leadership and legacy. On July 24, 2025, a memorial service will be held at his final resting place, Asomdwee Park in Accra, to pay tribute to his life and service.
The events will culminate on Saturday, July 26, 2025, with a hockey tournament in Accra, reflecting President Mills’ strong affinity for sports.
Through these commemorative events, the John Evans Atta Mills Memorial Heritage aims to promote Prof. Mills’ enduring values and legacy, inspiring reflection, unity, and a renewed commitment to public service.
