Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has attributed the team’s opening game loss to Cape Verde to lack of experience.

The Black Stars were beaten 2-1 by the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde, giving the four-time African champions a tough hurdle to climb in the next two fixtures.

Speaking after the game, the Crystal Palace striker bemoaned the team’s poor performance on the inexperience within the squad.

“We lack a lot of experience and you know you can’t say anything but at the end of the day, if you look at the squad that we have, it’s more than 10 players playing their first AFCON, so these types of mistakes will happen and we need to learn quick.

“The AFCON is not awaiting for anyone and it’s not easy, it’s hard so we need to stand up and face the reality.”

Ghana face Egypt in the next group game on Thursday, January 18 before playing Mozambique in the final group qualifier on Monday, January 22.
