Ghana’s fastest man Benjamin Kwaku-Azamati failed to annex Gold in the 100m event of the ongoing African Games after a disappointing run in the final.

Going into the final at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium on Tuesday, March 19, most fans expected the poster boy of athletics to deliver the goods.

Unfortunately, he could not come close to his personal best (PB) of 9.90s nor his time at this championship (10.41s) as he made a time of 10.45s to place 5th.

The race was won by Cameroonian Emmanuel Eseme in a time of 10.14s.

While Nigeria’s Itsekiri Usheoritse came 2nd in 10.23s, Namibia’s Gilbert Hainuca 10.29s.

Another Ghanaian, Barnabas Aggerh came 6th with a time of 10.50s.

Meanwhile, Ghana’s Mary Boakye also failed in the women’s 100m final after she came 7th with a time of 11.71s.

She was the only Ghanaian in the women’s final.

All these individual athletes will be back on the track for the relay events.
