The Member of Parliament for Agona East, Queenster Pokuaa Sawyer, has commissioned electrification projects for three communities in the Agona East district of the Central region.

The communities were communicated to the national electricity grid on Tuesday, February 25, 2025.

These beneficiary communities include Agona Domoki, Agona Brahabokum and Agona Twumawura, being the first time each of them are having electricity.

Madam Sawyer, speaking during the commissioning noted the extension of electricity to the communities formed part of President Mahama’s rural electrification project which aims at extending electricity to other parts of the country.

She also explained that the projects form part of the President’s vision of extending development to rural areas for empowerment.

She bemoaned the erstwhile NPP administration’s failure to continue the project which was started by the previous John Mahama administration in 2012 but was not continued by the Akufo-Addo government the past eight years.

She expressed gratitude to the beneficiary communities for their support towards the realisation of the project, assuring the remaining communities without power of her commitment to ensure they get their portion of the national cake.

Nbrantehen of Agona Tawurah, Nana Kofi Addo II, expressed gratitude on behalf of the communities to the legislator and the government for coming to their aid.

He noted that their excitement stems from the economic benefit they are going to get from the electricity.

The chief also disclosed that he will celebrate his thirty-fifth birthday this week, and it would be the first time he would be sleeping in a room with electricity supply.

Some residents also spoke with Onua News and expressed gratitude to the government for the gesture.
