The District Chief Executive for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has died.
He died on Sunday evening, September 20, 2026, after a brief illness, according to the local Assembly.
Sedik had returned to Mankranso from Kumasi where he attended a stakeholders’ meeting with the Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga.
The meeting was on the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two Redevelopment project.
“Rest well, Hon. Abubakar Sedik. You served your people with a good heart,” a Facebook post by the Assembly read.
Sedik was the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the area in the 2024 elections.
His district has been in the news in the past week after he was accused of spearheading an attempt to demolish a school facility at Mankranso to pave the way for the construction of a 24-hour economy market, an allegation he denied.
