John Dramani Mahama is teasing President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, saying he is commissioning uncompleted projects just to woo Ghanaians for votes.
The presidential candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the President, although the projects are not completed, is commissioning them to suggest he is on a developmental trajectory.
During a mega walk by the NDC in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, Saturday, November 29, 2024, John Mahama cited certain projects the President has inaugurated despite them not being completed.
Talking about the Ashanti region, he said the NPP has taken them for granted irrespective of the region giving the party the highest number of votes in the country.
Mahama indicated that there is no single project in the region that Akufo-Addo has completed, adding that the rush hour projects they have started, including those in all the other regions, would be completed by the NDC.
He established that it was time the government was punished by residents of the region for taking them for granted, saying they gave Asanteman nothing but is pretending to be doing something just to deceive them for votes.
“You can deceive people for the first and second time but not the third time. Akufo-Addo is now commissioning uncompleted projects”, explaining that Akufo-Addo in his first four years abandoned the Flower Pot interchange he (Mahama) started only to rush it in and commission it with scaffolds still on the project, indicating it was not completed.
Mahama added that claims by the government that Ethiopian Air is going to commence operations from Kumasi to London is not true.
According to him, the NPP is lying to Asanteman just to get their votes, disclosing that his inquiry from the Airline revealed that although the flight in question is theirs, it has been rented out to a private individual.
The former President added that the Kumasi Airport is still under construction but has been completed by the NPP government just woo their votes.
“They are still doing the apron of the Kumasi Airport but he has gone to commission it. They said Ethiopian Airline was going to commence operations from Kumasi to London but when we inquired, it was their plane but someone had chattered and it wasn’t something they were going to do on their own. They were deceiving Kumasi residents because of the elections. That was also 419,” he stated.
