President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says his government is tackling critical road projects in a holistic manner to ensure every part of the country has quality all weather roads.

Speaking at a ceremony at Suame to cut sod for the construction of first 4-tier interchange in the Ashanti Region, President Akufo-Addo said the completion of the project will ensure free flow of traffic in the area.

Parliament has approved two loan agreements totalling 156.4 million Euros to finance the design and construction of the Suame interchange and ancillary works project in Kumasi.

The 4-tier interchange project, to be constructed within 30 months, will include five overpasses at Abrepo Junction, Krofrom, Anomangye, Suame Magazine New Road and Abusuakrowa.

It will also result in widening of sections of the Kumasi Ring Road and the Offinso road into 3-lane dual carriage way whilst additional 15km stretch of local roads would be developed.

The Suame interchange project would improve travel time and reduce waiting time within the Kumasi Metropolis, with a consequent reduction in poverty and enhancement of the economy.

It would also improve traffic circulation and the movement of people, goods and services.

President Akufo-Addo pointed out that his government is working tirelessly to fix the deplorable roads in the country.

“I want to assure you that the government is committed to addressing the problem of deplorable roads in the coubtry.

It will help address congestion on the stretch,” he said.

The Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako Attah, assured that the project will not stalled till completion.

He also charged the construction firm to employ locals in the area to enable them get a job.

The minister also advised and appealed to the construction firm to make safety their major priority.
