Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the just-ended December 07 elections.

The President has asked for strength for the President-elect and Members of Parliament-elect ahead of resumption of their roles in January 2025.

He offered his prayers for wisdom, strength, and divine blessings as the new leaders prepare to assume leadership roles.

A Christmas message delivered by the President Tuesday, December 24, 2024, commended Ghanaians for their comportment during the December polls for the peaceful election of a new President and Members of Parliament successfully.

He described the feat as a monumental milestone in Ghana’s democratic journey.

“Fellow Ghanaians, this year, we have achieved another monumental milestone in our national development with a peaceful, free and fair election of a new president and new members of parliament, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the president-elect and the MPs-elect, wisdom, strength and God’s blessings as they prepare to lead our beloved nation,” he said.

Reaffirming Ghana’s position as a beacon of democracy, he noted that the election is a testament to that reputation.

He, however, addressed the excesses that came up during the process, condemning the isolated post-election disturbances that marred the otherwise exemplary democratic exercise.

“I must nevertheless condemn, in no uncertain terms, the unnecessary acts of violence that have tarnished an otherwise exemplary democratic exercise,” he averred.
