Social media influencer, Elorm Ababio, popularly known as Ama Governor has finally been called to the Ghana Bar after two years of denial.

Miss Ababio joined 181 other individuals who were sworn in as new lawyers as they received a certificate at a ceremony.

In a video shared on social media, Ama Governor is seen walking to the podium in her law regalia while bowing down to dignitaries and receiving her certificate.

Ama’s call to the bar marks a significant milestone in her career after two years of back and forth with the General Legal Council (GLC) for denying her to be called to the Bar.

She was first listed by the GLC on a notice board of the Ghana School of Law as part of the students to be called to the bar today, May 31.

The official notice from the Ghana School of Law stated: “The list of persons qualified to be called to the bar per a notice issued under the hand of the Director of the Ghana School of Law is not exhaustive and may change upon the attention of the General Legal Council drawn to certain irregularities.”

This development follows her two consecutive denials to be called to the bar in 2022 and 2023.

The graduate of the Ghana School of Law garnered attention online back in 2022 and 2023 when she was denied entry to be called to the Bar.

The General Legal Council cited “conduct unbecoming of an applicant to be called to the Bar” as reason for not allowing her to be called to the Bar.

The decision resulted in a public debate with many questioning the basis for their refusal. While some commended the General Legal Council for its decisions, the GLC received massive backlash from social media users and some fans and sympathizers of the influencer.
