An Accra High court has dismissed all applications filed by the first and third accused persons in the ongoing ambulance purchase trial, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Richard Jakpa.

Following an allegation against the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, by Richard Jakpa, during court proceedings on May 28, 2024, that the A-G had tried influencing him to falsify his testimony against the Minority Leader, Mr. Jakpa filed an application to the court for a mistrial, citing the A-G’s assurance to him of being innocent as basis.

Among the applications filed by the duo included an application for stay of proceedings pending appeal, an Application for enquiry into the alleged conduct of Attorney-General and a mistrial by Dr Ato Forson’s lawyers.

They also included an application for an order striking out charges against third accused, Richard Jakpa, and an affidavit in support of the application by Jakpa by the Former Deputy Finance Minister, Dr. Ato Forson.

However, 3News’ court affairs correspondent, Laud Harris Adu Asare, quoted Justice Afia Serwa Asare-Botwe as saying “what the applicant is seeking is not known to our laws” as she struck out the applications Thursday, June 06, 2024.

“Having listened to the conversation between A3 [Richard Jakpa] and AG [Godfred Dame], the allegation that A-G sought assistance to implicate A1[Ato Forson] was not borne out of the mouth of the AG but A3[Jakpa]” the presiding Judge added.
