The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is scandalised by what it describes as a “clear case of persecution” against its caucus leader in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson.

The party says the persecution is a confirmation of the Attorney-General’s foul modus operandi which the NDC has termed “devious”.

The concerns come on the back of a testimony by one Richard Jakpa, who is standing trial with Dr. Ato Forson for the purchase of some ambulances, claiming that the A-G, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has been calling and meeting him at odd hours to falsify his testimony against the former Deputy Minister of Finance.

Mr. Jakpa is the third accused person in the ongoing trial.

In a statement issued by NDC Thursday, May 23, 2024 and signed by its Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, it says Mr. Dame’s actions depict how the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government intends to “unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring.”

WITNESS EXPOSES JUDICIAL MANIPULATIONS OF DEVIOUS GODFRED DAME IN COURT

It has come to the attention of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), that during the proceedings of today, Thursday, 23rd May, 2024, in the matter of the trial of the Leader of the NDC Minority in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the 3rd Accused, Mr. Richard Jakpa testified in open court that the Attorney-General, Godfred Yeboah Dame has had several meetings with him at odd hours and telephone conversations impressing on him to skew his testimony to implicate the Minority Leader.

These are matters of fact which formed part of the court’s record of proceedings today.

The NDC is deeply scandalised by this clear case of persecution against the Leader of the party’s Caucus in Parliament who has been at the forefront of our struggle against the misrule of the oppressive and despotic Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP regime.

This revelation goes to confirm legitimate and long-held suspicion of the devious modus operandi of Godfred Dame and the government he represents.

It further shows the desperate lengths the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia NPP government will go to manipulate judicial processes to unjustly victimise political opponents for cheap political goal-scoring.

It also confirms the lack of integrity of the dishonourable Attorney-General and the extent to which he goes to pervert the course of justice.

The NDC wishes to serve notice that early next week, the party shall hold a full-blown press conference and put out incontrovertible evidence on this matter that will shock the nation. We will stop at nothing in pursuing this matter to its logical conclusion and ensuring that justice is done.

SIGNED.
Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketiah
National Chairman
