President Akufo-Addo’s wife would have been a man instead of a woman if anti-LGBTQ practices were acceptable in Ghana, the Osu Traditional Council (OTC) has said.

It has therefore advised the President and the Chief Justice, Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo, to expedite steps in the approval of the anti-LGBTQ bill to avert the wrath of God on Ghana.

This comes after the proponents of the bill announced plans to protest against the Chief Justice on August 21, 2024, over allegations of stalling the transmission of the bill to the President for his assent.

Following the passage of the bill by Parliament in February 2024, the bill has delayed in its assent following an injunction application filed by two citizens to challenge the presentation to the President for assent.

The matter, which proponents of the bill expected to be expedited to ensure the bill is assented before the 8th Parliament is dissolved, is still delaying in court.

They have therefore intended to protest against the Chief Justice for delaying the process.

During a courtesy call on the Acting President of the Osu Traditional Council, Nuumo Gbelenfo III, he cautioned against delays in the approval of the bill.

Nuumo Gbelenfo indicated that if homosexuality was an accepted practice in the country, President Akufo-Addo’s wife wouldn’t be a woman but a man.

To avoid the wrath of God on the nation, the Nuumo advised the President and the Chief Justice to avoid the delays.

“If it were the norm that marriage was set between people of the same sex, we would have seen our president marry a man. But that is not the case. So I am appealing to the president to ensure that the right thing is done by signing the bill into law in order for Ghana not to incur the wrath of God.

“It is a filthy practice, so we are urging the president and the Chief Justice to do the needful to avert the anger of God.
