Black Stars Captain Andre Dede Ayew has apologised to Ghanaians for the disappointment that characterised the team’s campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023).
He says as captain of the side, he takes full responsibility for all that happened in La Côte d’Ivoire.
Ghana exited the group phase after losing to Cape Verde and drawing twice with Egypt and Mozambique in Group B.
In that final 2-2 game at the Stade Olympique Alassane Ouattara D’Ebimpé, Ayew, who came on for Joseph Paintsil, conceded a handball in the Black Stars penalty area to get the Mozambicans back into the game.
“I would love to apologise for the results in the AFCON that we just exited,” he said in a broadcast on Tuesday, January 30.
