Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has been named Chairman of the Youth and Sports Manifesto Sub-committee of the 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Director of Communications for the Bawumia 2024 Campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, on Wednesday, February 21.

The release announced a composition of the 2024 manifesto committee of the Vice President.

The Chairman of the Committee is Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, who is also the Majority Leader and Member of Parliament for Suame Constituency as well as Minister of Parliamentary Affairs.

He will be assisted by Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, also an MP and Minister of Works and Housing.

Evron Hughes will serve as the Secretary of the Manifesto Committee.

Two Coordinators were named: Prof Kwaku Appiah Adu and Dr Isaac Owusu Mensah.

As many as 19 sub-committee chairs were also named with Ghana’s all-time leading goalscorer heading the Youth and Sports sub-committee.

“The Committee shall be responsible for undertaking a holistic of the party’s 2016 and 2020 manifestos and engaging all relevant stakeholders to come up with a pragmatic 2024 manifesto,” the release said.

“The Manifesto Committee is further charged to discharge their mandate efficiently and professionally to produce a comprehensive manifesto document that can stand the test of time to address the legitimate concerns and socio-economic challenges of Ghanaians.”

The former Al Ain striker was spotted during the unveiling of Dr Bawumia as the 2024 flagbearer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA).
