Ugandan striker Steven Dese Mukwala has announced his departure from Asante Kotoko.

In a video posted on his X page on Monday, June 24, Mukwala expressed gratitude to fans and supporters of the club for his two-year stay.

He especially thanked the life patron of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, and the former Chief Executive Officer, Nana Yaw Amponsah, for bringing him to the club.

He admitted Asante Kotoko became a place he grew his football career and Kumasi has become his home.

“I also want to thank coach Prosper Ogum for believing in me. . . .”

Asante Kotoko later noted that Mukwala left the club “upon expiration of his contract”.

“The club is grateful for the moments shared together and wishes him the best for the future.”

It is unclear where the Ugandan striker will be heading next.

He has played in Uganda in most part of his professional career, featuring for the likes of KCCA, Maroons FC and Vipers SC.
