The Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has concluded his mediation efforts in the Bawku conflict.
Asantehene is expected to submit his report to President John Mahama for further action.
On December 1 when the final mediation took place, security at the Manhyia Palace was heightened as stakes soared.

Conflict between two ethnic groups, the Kusaug and Mamprugu has spanned years, resulting in the loss of many lives.
Properties have also been destroyed.
The President, John Dramani Mahama, tasked the Asantehene to mediate to restore peace in Bawku.
On Monday, feuding parties gathered at the Asantehene Jubilee Hall as the King wrapped up his almost 9 months peace talks.
Outside the walls of the Manhyia Palace, supporters of both ethnic groups expressed optimism peace will prevail after the final engagement.
“We are ready to accept the outcome from Otumfuo’s mediation today. We want peace, and that is why we are here, ” Aweni, a Kusaasi, told Evans-Nkum.
Fuseini, a member of the Mamprugu ethnic group, also said, “we believe peace will be achieved today.”
A few minutes to the end of the mediation, the military and police had to respond to some skirmishes outside the palace.

Some members of the group had clashed while jubilating, although the reason for the jubilation was not immediately known.

The stakeholders await a formal communique on the matter.
