The Asokore Mampong Education Directorate has set up a 5-member committee to investigate the circumstance that led to the assault of a female student of the Kumasi Academy Senior High School.

The disturbing video of a final year female student being assaulted by a group of students, all males, together with security, has gone viral on social media with many criticising the authorities for such act.

The Municipal Director of Education, Samson Anawine Atogembero, speaking with Onua News Thursday, August 15, 2024, indicated that the Committee has been given up to Wednesday, August 21, 2024, to submit its report.

Meanwhile, he indicated that the victim has been given medical treatment whilst the security man has been picked up by the police to assist in investigation.

“The school took her to clinic and they took good care of her. They have declared that she is okay in terms of health. But the security has been picked up by the police. Anybody who sees that video could see that the treatment she was subjected into was not pleasing.

“The Education office has formed a five-member committee comprising two females and three males and have been given up to this Wednesday to come out with…, the identity of the students in the video. We are aware that all of them are in Form 3 but who was recording the video? We later heard some of the boys assaulted the girl so we are doing that investigation with the help of the security.

“So far we are left with the investigations and the sanctions to be given to the culprits. Even though students are not allowed to send phones to school, we know some Form Twos and Threes come with some and that is why some of these issues go viral to the mass media to create all these tensions,” he disclosed.

Mr. Anawine Atogembero assured parents and guardians with their wards schooling in the municipality to know their security is assured.

“I want to assure everyone with a ward in our school not to fear because they are in safe hands,” he added.
