A brutal robbery attack at Assin Fosu in the Assin Central municipality of the Central Region has left Lucas Osei, a 41-year-old Cocoa District Officer, battling for his life.
The incident occurred on Thursday, June 27,2024, at about 2am at New Habitat, a suburb of Assin Fosu, where four masked robbers wielding machetes and scissors attacked Osei, locally known as D.O.
The robbers attacked him in his room while asleep and successfully made off with an amount of GH¢100,000, two laptops, and two mobile phones, leaving the victim with severe injuries.
Eyewitnesses who spoke with Onua TV’s Adwoa Benywaa Kwanimaa said they met the victim in a pool of blood while shouting for help and rushed him to the St. Francis Xavier Hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a team of police officers, led by Superintendent Kwabena Darkoh, the Central North Regional Police Crime Officer, responded promptly to the information received.
The suspects had, however, managed to escape before the team arrived at the scene. Consequently, the officers were able to recover the machete and scissors, which have been preserved as evidence.
Also, the police officers, including the Central North Regional Commander, DCOP Emmanuel Teye Cudjoe, proceeded to the hospital to assess the extent of the injuries inflicted on the victim.
Investigation is ongoing whilst residents have been left in shock.
