The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Kwanwoma, Kofi Amankwa-Manu, has expressed worry over the unusual delay in project implementation in the constituency.

Speaking on M’abatoƆ, an evening political show on Akoma 87.9fm in Kumasi with JB and William Evans-Nkum, Mr. Amankwa-Manu expressed worry over the delay of some road projects in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency in Ashanti region.

The MP, who is also the Deputy Minister of Defence, described some of the road contractors working in the area as either sleeping on their job or being lackadaisical.

He particularly listed the delay on some roads including the Denkyemuoso to Twedie and the Twedie to Trebuom, as well as other roads leading to some farming communities in the area.

Some contractors working on some road projects in the constituency have abandoned the work which has affected economic activities in the area.

Currently, work on the Denkyemuoso to Trebuom has been abandoned for years making things difficult for the constituents.

The MP, Kofi Amankwaa Manu, has pointed out that, most of the road network in the area needed to be constructed.

Though he admitted that most of the abandoned projects are due to lack of funds, some construction firms are sleeping on their job.

” Asabea and Wontumi are sleeping on their job and also lackadaisical,” he said.

“The only contractor doing very well in the area is Kofi Job construction. I’m really impressed about the performance put up by Kofi Job and his team in the area,” he added.

He said the Denkyemuoso to Trebuom experience is a classic example of project delay in various parts of the constituency but what was worse was that fact that, the contractors have abandoned the site for more than two years.

“What we see there is not impressive and I’m not happy. This project was awarded to the contractors about four years ago and we are yet to see any significant progress,” he stated, adding that “something urgent must be done about it to rescue the project, else these projects will run into a lot of challenges.”
