Black Stars Captain Andre Ayew was on target for Le Havre AC in the French Ligue 1 as they beat RC Lens 4-3 on Saturday, March 1.
Lens scored first in less than five minutes of play at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis through a penalty.
They doubled their lead through Ruben Aguilar, who scored just 16 minutes after the first.
However, Le Havre came back into the game stronger as Ayew assisted Issa Soumare for the first goal to reduce the deficit.
The Ghanaian scored a glancing header to put his side back on track and level with Lens.
The hosts took the lead once more through Florian Sotoca but this lasted only 14 minutes as Le Havre equalised through Josue Casimir.
This put the two sides on their toes to get the winner. It was a strong finish, therefore, for the two sides.
However, Ahmed Mahgoub’s extra-time penalty gave Le Havre’s a 4-3 win over the ruins
They now lie 16th on the 18-team table.
Ayew’s performance has come under critical assessment with some asking that he is invited to the senior men’s national team.
He is expected to make a return to the squad to play Chad and Madagscaar.
