The newly elected parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for Ayawaso East, Baba Jamal, has called on election pollsters to improve the accuracy of their predictions in future elections.
Speaking in an interview with TV3 after winning the party’s parliamentary primaries, Baba Jamal expressed surprise at pre-election polls that suggested a different outcome.
He told TV3’s Joseph Armstrong Gold-Alorgbey that he was confident of emerging victorious from the onset and believed the pollsters’ projections failed to reflect the realities on the ground.
According to him, the outcome of the primary clearly demonstrated the disconnect between some opinion polls and the true sentiments of party delegates and voters.
He urged polling organizations to strengthen their research methods to ensure more credible and reliable forecasts in future elections.
Touching on the upcoming by-election scheduled for March 3, Baba Jamal stated that Ayawaso East remains a stronghold of the NDC and expressed confidence that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stands no chance of winning the seat. He said he expects the NDC to secure a decisive victory without difficulty.
Baba Jamal further called on party members and supporters within the constituency to unite and work together ahead of the by-election.
He emphasized that unity within the party is crucial to not only retaining the seat but also increasing the NDC’s vote margin in the constituency.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders in Ayawaso East to consolidate the party’s base and deliver a resounding victory in the forthcoming by-election.
