Nana Adjei Baffour Awuah, lawyer for senior nursing officer, Salomey Awity Baffoe, says he is confident the High Court will grant his client bail when her application is heard on Wednesday, September 23.
He says the application was filed on Friday and is scheduled to be heard at 9:00 a.m. at the High Court Complex.
Speaking on Channel One Newsroom on Monday, September 21, 2026, Baffour Awuah expressed hope that his client, Baffoe will be released to return home and take care of her children.
“It was filed on Friday, and the date for hearing is Wednesday at 9 o’clock at the High Court Complex. We are very confident that she’ll be released to go and enjoy life and take care of her children, who have not had their mother for the last 10 days,” he said.
Baffour Awuah argued that there is no basis for his client to remain in custody, insisting that the investigation concerning her has effectively been completed.
“Demonstrably from the government’s own statement, there’s no outstanding investigation to be conducted. So why is she being held?” he asked.
Baffoe is facing a charge of abetment of crime, to wit, publication of false news, in connection with an ongoing police investigation.
She has pleaded not guilty to the charge after being remanded by the Adentan Circuit Court on Friday, September 18, for two weeks.
The Police allege that Baffoe assisted Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, whom they identify as the operator of the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account and who is believed to be in the United Kingdom, to disseminate videos and recruit others to redistribute the content.
According to the Police, forensic examination of Baffoe’s phone, including audio and video files, together with mobile money records, also uncovered alleged financial links between her and Kodua.
Baffoe is expected to return to the Adentan Circuit Court on September 28, as the case proceeds.
