The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has laid a wreath at Logba in the Afadjato South Constituency in memory of the late S.G Antor.

The flagbearer who recognized the late S.G Antor as founding member of the NPP described him as a man of “sacrifice”.

The late S.G Antor was born in 1931. Due to his fearlessness, he resisted the ideals of the late Dr Kwame Nkrumah and was later arrested. It took the intervention of the British government to release him.

His hard work and dedication to duty led to the formation of United Party (UP) tradition. However, he later lost his life.

The Vice President and flagbearer of the NPP laid a wreath in memory of him.

“He opposed Nkrumah from 1957 when he was a member of Parliament for the area which was known as the Kpando North Constituency”

“Nkrumah ordered his arrest for treason in 1957. S.G Antor appealed to the international court at the Hague. He was again arrested and placed in detention in 1966 and he was released after the 1966 coup. So, this is a man that has sacrificed when you look at his life history, he has sacrificed for Logba, he has sacrificed for this region, he has sacrificed for Ghana,”Dr Bawumia said.

He added that “So we are here, as I am campaigning, I am coming to Afadjato South, where he was born in Logba here. I cannot come here without first coming to one of our founding fathers, so I am here with my delegation to honour him and to lay a wreath on his grave.”

“I want to assure the people of Logba that we will not forget you, as President, I will not forget you, the sacrifices of S.G Antor will be remembered in how we develop this country,” he stated.

The traditional leaders and chiefs lauded the NPP flag bearer for recognizing the contributions of S.G Antor.

They however called on the NPP flag bearer to consider addressing challenges in the Logba community.

Later, the NPP flagbearer moved through the markets of at Logba and exchanged pleasantries with the market men and women. He encouraged them to vote for the NPP to win power.
