The presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehemaa, Nana Yaa Akyaa II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, on Thursday, September 17,2026.
The visit was to congratulate the Asantehemaa on her enstoolment and formally pay his respects.
During the visit, Dr. Bawumia sought the blessings of Nana Yaa Akyaa II as he pursues his vision for the presidency.
The Asantehemaa responded to the request and received Dr. Bawumia and his delegation at the palace.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied by several leading members and supporters of the NPP during the visit.
The engagement formed part of the NPP flagbearer’s interactions with traditional leaders and stakeholders as the party prepares for the 2028 general election.
