Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), has described rigging allegations leveled against his outfit by the governing NPP as frivolous.

He says the NPP is sensing defeat and has therefore resorted to making a mountain out of a molehill.

Addressing the media, Sammy Gyamfi, who is also a private legal practitioner, indicated that the tearing of the ballot as being claimed by the NPP is not a fault of the NDC but an EC official.

He added that it was even a portion of the ballot that was torn and not the entire image of the presidential candidate at the top of the ballot which happens to be Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the NPP.

He asked the public to disregard the NPP’s assertions saying that the officer in question who tore the ballot does not work for the NDC.

“The EC is supposed to be an independent constitutional body and so if one officer in the whole of Ghana, in tearing a particular paper makes a mistake as he says, and tears not the whole top part but the smaller part, how is this a rigging plot?

“This is yet another frivolous allegation by a desperate failed political party that can smell defeat coming. It was not done by an NDC officer, if anybody is to be blamed it is the EC, not NDC” Sammy Gyamfi whilst responding to the NPP’s claim.

His comments follow a press conference earlier organised by the Director of Communications for the Bawumia campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, indicating that the tearing of Bawumia’s face was engineered by the NDC.
