The lady who allegedly abandoned her four-day-old baby at a pigsty near the Zebilla market has been arrested by local Police.

The lady was arrested at Kuloko, a suburb of Binduri District with one accomplice, said to be an elder sister of the prime suspect.

The arrest was effected upon thorough investigations.

Upon interrogation, the suspect admitted to wrongdoing but disclosed that she was trying to avoid a family ridicule having had the baby out of wedlock.

She also told police investigators that her inability to cater for the neonate caused her action upon discharge from the Zebilla Hospital.

Meanwhile, a close family member in an interview disclosed that she was closely monitoring her during her pregnancy period due to some words she overheard her spoke in the past. The family member disclosed that the suspect attempted to abort the baby.

After dumping the baby, the suspect and accomplice reported to the family that the baby died upon delivery and as such was buried with the help of hospital authorities.

On Friday, 28th March, this portal reported that one Gifty Ayine, rescued a baby at a pigsty, while she was attending to her store at Zebilla market square.

The suspects are currently in police custody. The suspect is in stable condition and has no issues of mental illness.
