Ghana’s amputee football team, the Black Challenge, has defied the odds to successfully defend the Amputee Africa Cup of Nations trophy won in 2021.

The Ghanaians came from a goal down to beat their Moroccan counterparts 2-1 in the final played on Monday, May 27 at the Petro Sports Stadium in Cairo, Egypt.

Outstanding player Mohammed Mubarak got Ghana’s two goals, first equalising in the second half and then getting the winner in extra time.

The team won the tournament the last time in Tanzania.

Ghana not only win the 2024 AAFCON but also qualify for the Amputee Football World Cup to be held in 2026.

The team is scheduled to return home on Tuesday, May 28.
