Black Queens’ friendlies against Tunisia and Senegal are under threat due to the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ refusal to fund the team after Black Stars’ AFCON fiasco.

As part of preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament in Morocco, the Black Queens requested two international friendlies with Senegal coming to Ghana whilst Ghana travel to Tunisia.

The friendlies were set for the November international window but financial challenges have put these fixtures at risk of cancellation.

Sources confirm that the $40,000 budget for both matches has not been secured.

Our sources say the Minister of Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has refused to approve the budget because he’s angry that the Black Stars did not qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

As a result, he has resolved not go to release any funds for any national team.

The Black Queens have not played any game since their July friendly against Japan.

The two tests would have been the perfect platform for Nora and her back room staff to assess the team’s readiness for the tournament.

Ghana qualified to the tournament for the first time since 2018 by beating Namibia in the final qualifying round.

They now face a tough group, Group C, which has defending champions South Africa, Tanzania, and Mali.
