The Black Queens had to settle for a 3-3 in the first of their two friendly matches against the Female Elephants of La Cote d’Ivoire.

The match is part of a training tour in the neighbouring country to put the team in shape for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Sherifatu Sumaila put the Queens ahead as early as the 18th minute.

Two quick goals from both sides with five minutes to end the first match saw the score at 2-1 into the break. Chantelle Hlorkah doubled the lead only for the hosts to pull one back.

An own goal by the Ivorians gave Ghana a 3-1 lead in the game.

But the lead was was cancelled within 10 minutes as the Ivorians scored two goals – one from the spot – to earn a point from the game.

The next game between the two will be on Tuesday, June 3.
