Ghana’s U-20 men’s soccer team, the Black Satellites, have booked a ticket in the final of the WAFU Zone B U-20 Championships after beating Côte d’Ivoire 2-1 in the semi-finals on Sunday.
The Ivorians drew first blood through Konan Loukou but the Satellites restored parity before the break.
It was going to be a long day for the two neighbours in the first semi-final game of the day.
However, Jerry Afriyie stepped up to convert from the spot for the Ghanaians.
It was a winner that extends his goal tally to four in the tournament.
He was also named the Man of the Match.
It was a sweet victory for the Group A winners as they not only secure a ticket to the final but also grab one of the two tickets for next year’s U-20 AFCON.
Ghana will face the winner of the Niger-Nigeria encounter in the final.
