The body of Nigerian boxer Gabriel Oluwasegun Olanrewaju has been repatriated to his home state after months of preservation in Ghana.
The body was kept as investigations surrounding the circumstances that led to his death in the ring continued.
The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, set up a seven-member committee to investigate the cause of the Nigerian’s death.

The committee has since completed its work.
But there have been agitations among relatives of the boxer back home after his body was kept in Ghana for well over two months.
Though the incident occurred on Sunday, March 30, the body has been in the custody of Ghanaian officials despite an autopsy having been done.
On Tuesday, June 17, the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) announced that the body of the 40-year-old, who was fighting in Week 15 of the Bel 7star Energy Drink Professional Boxing League, has been airlifted to Lagos.
“The cargo flight is scheduled to make a stopover in Lome before continuing its journey to Lagos,” GBA said.
The Authority expressed gratitude to Ghanaians, journalists and media outlets, especially members of the boxing fraternity for the immeasurable support.
“We shall keep you posted when the body finally arrives at the final destination as well as the scheduled interment process,” the Authority promised.
Success, as the Nigerian boxer was popularly known, died 2 minutes 46 seconds in Round 3 of his light heaveyweight bout against his Ghanaian opponent Jonathan Mbanugu.
