The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudjeto Ablakwa has stated that he is unperturbed by the responses given by the Minister of Agric and owner of Rock City, Bryan Acheampong to his expose on sale of stakes in hotels owned by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

He said Mr Acheampong’s explanations have rather strengthened his conviction that there is everything wrong with the transaction.

“His responses have strengthened my resolve to pursue this case. He has confirmed that he is the sole beneficial owner, he has confirmed that he is the sole shareholder and he has failed to obtain permission from the Speaker of Parliament,” he said on the  May 25 edition of TV3’s Key Points.

Mr Ablakwa added that, “let me confirm that I have received a formal response from CHRAJ (Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice) and they have indicated that they will act on this matter. My only hope is that they will act with expedition because available communications indicate the SSNIT is proceeding with the transaction despite the petition.”

You’re adding things up to destroy Rock City; it’s not fair – Bryan Acheampong to Ablakwa

It would be recalled that on May 21, Bryan Acheampong responded to allegations by Mr  Ablakwa in relation to his involvement in the sale shares of SSNIT hotels to Rock City Hotels Limited.

Mr. Acheampong, the owner of Rock City Hotels Limited, stated that the allegations made by Mr. Ablakwa, which suggest wrongdoing in Rock City’s proposal to purchase 60% of shares in SSNIT’s four hotels, are false and baseless.

He therefore registered his displeasure directly to Mr Ablakwa on Accra-based Joy FM on Tuesday, during a joint interview.

“You are just adding things together and trying to destroy me and trying to destroy Rock City. It is most unfair, it is ‘un-Ghanaian’ and you should stop it,” he told Mr Ablakwa.
