The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has made a passionate call to all candidates writing the 2024 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) within the metropolis to strive for academic excellence and place STMA at the top of the national rankings.
Frederick Faustinaus Faidoo, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), made this call during a tour of some examination centres within the Metropolis.
Addressing the candidates, he encouraged them to write the exams with confidence and a positive mindset, reminding them that this was an opportunity to demonstrate all they had learned throughout their basic education.
“We are here to give you moral support and motivate you to perform excellently to make yourselves, your families, your schools and the entire Metropolis proud. Go with open minds and be bold. By the grace of God, you shall come out with flying colours,” he said.
The MCE after touring the centers remains hopeful that this year’s candidates will rise to the occasion and make history by emerging as the best-performing Metropolis in this year’s examination.
He further urged the students to strictly adhere to all examination rules and guidelines, both written and oral, to avoid any actions that could lead to disqualification or cancellation of their papers.
Edmund Aggrey-Forson, the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Director of Education, on his part also advised the candidates to stay away from all forms of examination malpractice.
He challenged them to focus fully on the task at hand and help lift Sekondi-Takoradi to the top among the best-performing districts in this year’s BECE.
Some of the candidates expressed high hopes ahead of the examination, describing it as the moment they had been diligently preparing for throughout their years of basic education.
Within the Sekondi Takoradi Metropolis a total of 5,568 candidates, of which 2,795 males and 2,773 females from 138 schools, are sitting for the BECE at 18 designated centres across the Metropolis.
