Two motor riders have died after crashing their bikes during a colleague’s funeral at Enyan Asempanyin in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District of the Central Region.

Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare reports the 23-year-old Daniel Nyarko, at whose funeral the duo lost their lives, had also died from a motor accident.

Some residents who spoke with our reporter disclosed that the riders were riding recklessly in town when their colleague’s remains was returned from the mortuary, leading to their demise.

An eyewitness says they heard screams of accident and came out to witness. Another noted they had advised one of them to put a stop to the act but promised them he was going for the last ride which resulted in the fatal crash.

She narrates one of the riders was lying on the bike whilst the other from the opposite direction had veered off his lane, causing them to collide.

Meanwhile, one resident had also noted there was another accident on their way from the mortuary but was not as severe as the one in the community which claimed the two lives.

Charles Kwame Amoasi, a former assembly member for the area, noted they advised parents in the community to keep their wards at home due to the way motor riders, popularly referred as ‘Okada’, behave, during such occasions.

According to him, the leader of the Okada riders had placed an amount of money and alcohol on the race to be given to the best skills rider. He said the Rasta who had stopped displaying his skills returned to the competition after the booty and alcohol were placed on the event, resulting in his death.

He said one of the victims, Kwasi, died on the spot whilst the other, Rasta, was pronounced dead on their way to the Ajumako District Government Hospital..

Meanwhile, their bodies have been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy and preservation.
