During a recent tour of the Central Region, National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama made a case for Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

Addressing the crowd at Besease, a town in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam constituency, Mahama declared that the NDC firmly holds the majority in parliament, reinforcing Ato Forson’s role as its leader.

The NDC’s claim to majority status in parliament stems from a ruling by Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Bagbin, who declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

This decision, however, has met resistance from Ghana’s Supreme Court, leading to ongoing disputes over which party holds the majority.

The seats in question include Agona West in the Central Region, Suhum in the Eastern Region, the Amenfi Central seat, and the Fomena constituency in the Ashanti Region, currently represented by independent MP Andrew Asiamah Amoako.

Despite the legal and political back-and-forth, John Mahama’s message was clear: the NDC stands as the majority, and Ato Forson, as the representative of Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam, is its rightful majority leader.

In his address, John Mahama urged constituents to re-elect Ato Forson, praising his dedication to the community and commitment to progress.

He reminded the voters that their support is crucial in allowing Ato Forson to continue his impactful work for the area and for Ghana as a whole.

John Mahama did not hold back in his criticism of the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government, accusing them of deceitfully winning power only to mismanage the nation’s resources and development.

He emphasized that “the NDC is the only party capable of restoring Ghana’s stability” and urged citizens to cast their votes for a party that genuinely prioritizes the country’s welfare.

With his campaign theme, #Mahama4Change2024, Mr. Mahama called on Ghanaians to ” vote out the NPP and give the NDC the mandate to reset the country,” promising a fresh start for a brighter, more prosperous future for all Ghanaians.
