Residents of Gomoa Ojobi in the Central Region are accusing the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for allegedly dumping a patient in a bush near the township.
The victim, a woman in her sixties (60s), according to some residents, was taken out of an ambulance from the named hospital, in a Plaster Of Paris (POP), sitting in a wheelchair and dumped at the bush.
Onua News sources indicate the woman was involved in an accident and sent to the place for treatment. However, after the treatment, the facility says they were not able to identify any relative of hers.
The woman is said to have been making so much noise at the facility, with the suspicion that her sanity was partially affected by the accident.
Some residents who spoke with our news team said the body was dropped from an ambulance with Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital inscription.
“The ambulance is from Winneba,” a woman who spoke with Onua News indicated.
Another said “her face had been covered so I couldn’t identify her. She is wearing POP on both legs and lied on the ground unconscious. There was a wheelchair beside her with the inscription, ‘AGW’. The person who reported also said she is not an indigene of Ojobi.”
Meanwhile, Gomoa Ojobi Community Chairman, Apostle Robert Afraku, speaking with Onua News called on the social welfare to come to the woman’s aid.
“It cannot be possible that someone in a wheelchair pulled herself to this place. She was brought here by someone. The police have made us understand that it is the work of the social welfare so we are calling on them to come and take over.
Meanwhile, when Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare visited the Winneba Specialist and Trauma Hospital, the administrator who agreed to speak off camera, confirmed that they dumped the woman in the bush.
According to Yaw Asare, the administrator said it has been a usual practice where discharged patients whose relatives cannot be identified are deposited in their hometowns for their families to come for them.
However, he said he believes the woman lied to them about her hometown since the residents are saying they can’t identify her, leading to her unfortunate demise.
