The 6th accused person in the theft of monies belonging to former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has been granted a GHC300,000 bail with three sureties by an Accra Circuit Court.

State prosecutors on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, prayed for a two-week adjournment from the court in order to mop up investigations in the case alleging some US$1million and €300,000 euros theft at the residence of Madam Cecilia Dapaah.

The pleas of the seven persons charged with various stealing offenses were not taken as the prosecution noted that the investigations are in the concluding stages.

The accused persons are Patience Botwe, 18, a hairdresser, Sarah Agyei, 30, unemployed, Benjamin Sowah, 29, plumber, Malik Dauda, 34, unemployed, Christiana Achab, a trader, Job Pomary, a mechanic, and Yahaya Sumaila, an excavator operator.

They are facing 14 counts of stealing among other charges.

Counsel for the sixth accused person, Job Pomary who has been charged with dishonestly receiving some GHC300,000 prayed for bail which was not opposed by the prosecution.

Assistant State Attorney Akosua Agyapomaa Agyemang told the court that investigations regarding Job Pomary had been concluded.

Presiding judge Afia Owusua Appiah granted the bail of GHC300,000 with two sureties to be justified.

The sureties, the court said, should be within the jurisdiction of the court and the accused should also deposit his passport at the registry.

He is also to report to the police once every two weeks until further notice. The case has been adjourned to September 5, 2023.
